Yurt Standard Features and Color Options

Laurel Nest Yurts was a pleasure to do business with. They are talented, big-hearted people who will go the distance to make your yurt right for you, very accommodating and helpful and generous with their time and guidance at prices that beat the competitors by huge amounts. Thanks guys!

All yurt packages come with the following features:

Standard wall height is approximately 7’
Higher walls make your yurt feel more spacious and allow for standard door and window sizes
Rafters and khana made from hand selected, kiln-dried southern yellow pine with minimal wains and knots.
Our frame is made from a local wood, making it sustainable for people on the east coast and in the southern region. For those on the west coast, you can build parts yourself if you wish to keep the wood local!
Rafters, khana, and center ring sealed with a natural-based wood penetrating oil. Polyurethane is used on any parts that have exposure to the elements.
The wood frame is preserved and protected from mold.
Assembled with 1/4″ carriage bolts and nuts.
Replacement parts can be purchased conveniently at your local hardware store.
Compression ring (center ring) is made by laminating six pieces of  stain grade (seven layer) plywood.
All materials used are natural and safe for interior living spaces (no harsh chemicals used, like those found in pressure treated wood)
Our large 1/4″ thick clear, acrylic skylight domes are mounted to a hinged dome plate for extra strength and ease of opening.
Having an opening dome is critical for air movement and cooling and should always be a standard feature. The dome is easy to remove for cleaning and opens with no stress on the dome itself.
We offer more windows in our yurt covers: starting from 2 in our 12’ 3 in our 15’, 4 in our 18’ and 20’, and 5 in our 24’ and 30’ yurt
Natural light connects you with your environment and allows for easy ventilation and fresh air to flow through
Large fire reistant vinyl windows (54″ x 54″) and removable screen (43″x 43″)
Large windows allow you to see your surroundings and observe the natural world you are surrounded by.
The cover is made of Starfire, a strong 15 oz. acrylic coated cotton-poly blend.
Starfire is a natural alternative to vinyl, is available in many colors, and is a strong and durable fabric and meets the California CPAI-84 flammability standard.
We are willing to sew roofs and walls using other fabrics of your choice.
If we don’t stock a fabric you want, we are happy to accommodate your choices.
DIY options are a standard that only Laurel Nest Yurts offers, on any yurt or package.  We are of course happy to make the whole yurt!
We want to provide you with an opportunity to save money while being involved in the building of your new shelter.

You are supporting a small business! Hal and Asia and their daughter Emilia are working together with a team of talented local professionals to bring you a beautiful hand crafted yurt.
